The publication decribes results from the analysis of 125 whole genomes (tumor and normal pairs) from Medulloblastoma patients, an aggressively growing tumour, arising in the cerebellum or medulla/brain stem. iBioS scientists were instrumental in carrying out data analysis on the genome data. The work is part of the ICGC PedBrain Tumor consortium.
In the first data evaluation, genomic changes which not only reveal targets for new treatment approaches but also provide information about how to use already available drugs more specifically have been discovered. For example, tetraploidy was identified as a frequent early event in certain patient groups.
