Curriculum Vitae
Karl Rohr studied Electrical Engineering at the
University of Karlsruhe (TH) and received his Ph.D.
degree (1994) as well as his Habilitation degree
(1999) in Computer Science from the University of Hamburg, Germany. Since 2004 he is
Head of the Biomedical
Computer Vision Group (BMCV) and Associate Professor at the University of Heidelberg, Faculty of BioScience, IPMB, BIOQUANT Center, Dept. Bioinformatics & Functional Genomics,
and the DKFZ Heidelberg (German Cancer
Research Center), Dept.
Theoretical Bioinformatics. He is also Guest Professor at the International University in Germany, Bruchsal.
From 2000 to 2004 he was Associate Professor of
Computer Science in the School of Information Technology
at the International
University in Germany, Bruchsal,
and Head of the Computer Vision & Graphics Group. From
1992-2000 he was with the Department of Computer Science, University of
Hamburg, in the Cognitive Systems Group,
where he was project
leader of the IMAGINE
project during 1994-2000 (funded by Philips Research Laboratories, Hamburg).
Previous to that, he was a Research Associate at the Department of Computer
Science,
In 1990 Dr. Rohr was awarded a DAGM prize for
his paper on model-based recognition of grey-value corners. In 1995 he was a
co-recipient of the Springer Best Paper Award KI-95 for his joint work
on model-based recognition and natural language description of human movements.
In 2000 he received a Honorable
Mention for the 26th Annual Pattern Recognition Society Award for an
outstanding contribution to the journal Pattern Recognition for his
contribution on the extraction of 3D anatomical landmarks.
He is Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering
and serves the Editorial Board of Pattern Recognition.
